The new Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary is designed to enable staff to deliver the best possible healthcare and to provide patients with the highest quality facilities in their local area. This is one of few hospitals in the UK where patients all have single rooms. The hospital provides a brand-new Emergency Care Department, a combined theatre complex for day surgery, endoscopy and surgical patients and consolidated ambulatory care. The hospital was officially handed over to the Dumfries & Galloway Health Board in December 2017 and celebrated its Royal Opening by HRH Princess Anne in July 2018.
Better Alignment, Better Value, Better Governance
This project operates under the Scottish NPD model which provides a very predictable, long-term return stream for investors. Its 25-year life aligns well with pension scheme’s needs to generate consistent cash flows to fund pension payments. Following the acquisition of the outstanding ownership interest in the project in October 2018, PiP is the sole private equity owner in the project alongside the Scottish Government.
