PiP’s experienced team combines deep pensions scheme, asset management and infrastructure knowledge, all dedicated to delivering the highest quality of investment and service to meet the needs of pension scheme investors.
Tony has been Chairman of PiP since 2016 and brings over 30 years of experience in infrastructure to the PiP Board. Tony is also Independent Director at the Green Infrastructure Platform, a Non-Executive Board member at the Department for Transport and a senior adviser to First State investments. Until June 2016 Tony was a partner in PwC, where he held roles including global head of Project Finance, head of PwC’s Advisory business in Asia Pacific and latterly global head of Consulting.
Paula is responsible for developing the strategy of the PiP business. Paula joined PiP in 2015 and led the internal development of the business obtaining regulatory approval and subsequently the designing and launching its first infrastructure fund, PiP Multi Strategy Infrastructure LP in 2016. Paula has over 20 years’ experience in fund management, and was appointed Chief Executive Officer in 2019. Paula has a total of 20 years’ experience in the asset management industry having spent 11 years at Russell Investments, including a period at group head office in the US as Head of Risk and Compliance for Alternative Investments, and then at CCLA where she was responsible for the compliance, risk management and internal audit arrangements. Paula is a graduate of the University of Leicester and has been awarded an MBA from the Henley Business School. In 2014, Paula was appointed as a Justice of the Peace for England and Wales.
Lindsay became a Non-Executive Director of PiP in 2014 and has remained a constant presence on the PiP Board since the platform’s inception. Lindsay has extensive experience within investment management, having spent a large part of his career with Barclays Global Investors (now Blackrock), where he held several senior executive roles including UK CEO and pan-European CEO. Lindsay’s former roles also include: chairman of the Code Committee of the Takeover Panel, director of the Financial Reporting Council and chairman of the Investment Management Association. He was also previously chairman of the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association. In 2005 Lindsay was awarded the OBE for services to the fund management industry.
Isabel joined PiP as a Non-Executive Director in 2015, bringing over 20 years’ experience of investing in infrastructure. As well as sitting on the PiP Board, Isabel also provides a non-Executive presence as a member of the PiP Investment Committee. Isabel was a key executive in the start-up of four infrastructure investment businesses backed by blue chip sponsors, including the $1 billion AIG Asian Infrastructure Fund I and the €1 billion ABN AMRO Global Infrastructure Fund. She led John Laing’s Asia Pacific investment business from Hong Kong, then moved to London in 2001 to become CFO of a global airports joint venture. Isabel is a board member of the public watchdog Transport Focus. Isabel has a BA in economics from the Ohio State University and Master’s degrees from Harvard Kennedy School of Government and the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Jon was appointed to the PiP Board in 2015 and contributes over thirty years of experience in the asset management industry across the geographies of EMEA, Asia and Latin America. His career has encompassed both the institutional and the wholesale segments and spanned traditional and alternative asset classes. Previously, Jon worked at Pioneer Investments as Head of Western Europe and Latin America; AXA Investment Managers as Global Head of Distribution; and Russell Investments as a member of both their Global Executive Committee and Global Investment Committee. As well as being involved in solving strategic investment issues Jon has led a number of initiatives to reinforce governance and processes around institutional investment activities. Jon has a BSc (Hons) in Physics from Imperial College, London and an MBA from the University of Kansas, USA.
Mark joined the PiP Board in 2017 as a Non-Executive Director and is a member of the PiP Audit and Risk Committee. He is also currently Director of Finance at PLSA. Mark qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1983 with Thomson McLintock, a predecessor firm of KPMG. He has over 30 years’ experience of financial, commercial and corporate services management across the private, public and third sectors including ten years’ as Director of Finance and Corporate Services at Big Lottery Fund, four years as Finance and Commercial Director at the British Printing Industry Federation and six years as Deputy Finance Director of Which? – the leading consumer organisation and publisher. Mark is a graduate of the University of Warwick.
Ed is responsible for overseeing and developing the origination and structuring capabilities of the PiP Investment Team. Ed has driven the deployment of PiP’s growing AuM through constructing a well-diversified portfolio of infrastructure investments, whilst assembling a strong team of experienced investment professionals with complementary skillsets. With over 28 years’ experience, Ed has been responsible for investing in and lending to a diverse range of assets and projects across a number of different sectors. Key highlights have included his time as Head of the Renewable Energy Group at Lloyds Banking Group, where he spearheaded the bank’s drive into selective renewable energy markets and was responsible for building a £1bn plus renewable energy portfolio. Before Lloyds, Ed was Head of European Structured Asset Finance at Bank of Scotland and Co-Head of Leasing, Structured Finance at Halifax Plc. Ed is a graduate of the University of Oxford.
Nick is responsible for originating, structuring and managing equity investments in UK infrastructure projects for PiP. Nick has over 13 years of experience focused predominantly on infrastructure equity investments and debt structuring. He has working knowledge across a range infrastructure sectors in a wide selection of geographies including Western and Eastern Europe, North America, Australia as well as the UK. Prior to working for PiP, Nick was responsible for structuring and managing infrastructure projects for the Infrastructure Funds team at Aberdeen Asset Management. Here he was instrumental in developing the waste sector capability and was also involved in raising their first suite of greenfield PPP funds.
Paul is responsible for originating, structuring and managing investments in UK infrastructure projects. Paul has over 16 years’ experience in infrastructure. Paul has strong expertise in debt financing and structuring, and latterly performed a key role in the effective asset management of a portfolio of infrastructure assets. Before joining PiP, Paul’s most recent position was Associate Director and Infrastructure and Energy specialist at Lloyds Banking Group Asset Management. Paul has a BA in Economics from the University of Manchester and an MA in Economics and Finance from the University of Sheffield.
Joe is responsible for originating, structuring and managing investments in UK infrastructure projects. Joe is a proficient financial modeler and has expertise across a range of equity investments and debt refinancing. Previously, Joe spent 3 years at DWPF where he was involved in the financing of a range of transactions across the student accommodation, energy, and PPP/PFI sectors. Whilst at DWPF Joe also acted as a consultant to InfraRed and InfraMed assisting them in both origination and asset management. Joe graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2012 with an MSc in Physics and has been a CFA Charterholder since November 2016.
